5 Wearable Devices That Will Form Part Of The Future

When a brand like Apple decides to enter any space with Apple Watch then it's bound to raise eyebrows and get everyone noticing the same is currently happening with the wearable space. Without a doubt, that's where the future is and that clearly highlights the need to improvise and innovate to extent that product becomes successful without compromising on its value.

Apple isn't the only major corporation looking to diverse its interest in this space, Google's already tried their hands in it, Intel is intending on bringing about a change and Microsoft is doing its bit via Hololens. So here are some wearable devices that are worth keeping an eye for in the coming years.

OnePlus Zero Phone Features 4 GB of RAM and 5.1 inch Super AMOLED Phone

You may have seen a OnePlus Two concept a few days ago, but what about that “other” phone? OnePlus is said to be launching one more handset model this year, a bit more affordable and more mid range specced. Meet the OnePlus Zero!

Rendered by Deviantart user r4yNTv, this model packs a Snapdragon 620 processor, 3 or 4 GB of LPDDR3 RAM and an Adreno 510 GPU. There are 32 GB of storage here, or 64 GB, as well as dual SIM card slots and LTE Cat 7 support. OnePlus Zero offers a 5.1 inch Full HD Super AMOLED screen, a curved display with Gorilla Glass 4 protection and nano coating.

There are dual front facing speakers here, dual Toshiba 8 MP front facing cameras and dual IR/proximity sensors. This model brings a curved ballistic nylon back plate (that sounds fancy!). Finally, the OnePlus Zero concept relies on a 13 MP camera with F/1.8 aperture and OIS, as well as fingerprint scanner, microUSB port with QuickCharge and multi mode wireless charging.

Water and dust resilience are also offered and the price is $349. The design feels pretty compact, bezels are slim and the device is a bit rounded at the top and bottom.

Designer Jonas Kvale has created a few interesting concept phones already, but one more can’t hurt. Thus, we meet the BendFone, which as the name says is a handset with quite a bit of a curve.

This model has slim bezels, a curved top and bottom, but their slopes are facing opposite directions. The top slope goes down from the top, while the bottom slope goes up from the back to the front. The back side of the device reminds me of an LG model and the phone is only 7 mm thick, according to the designer.

We’re dealing with a 5.5 inch phablet here, one with 3 GB of RAM inside, a MediaTek MT6795 processor, (64 bit) and a screen resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. The BendFone runs Android 5.0 Lollipop and packs a 16 MP camera at the back and a front 5 MP selfie shooter. Modern flagship? Sure sounds like it.

MyBox is a Pocket Netbook and Social Networking Gizmo Dating From Back in 2010

My inbox was empty today, so I searched the web for some older concept mobile device we may have missed over the years. I found an interesting device called MYbox, the one shown below, as a dual display unit that was created in 2010 by designer Yogesh Kumar.

This feels like something Microsoft would make, straight from the books of the Kin project. MyBox is described as a pocket sized netbook and a social networking device of sorts. It features a QWERTY keyboard, high speed WiFi and Bluetooth. The design involves a clamshell approach and this model is quite ergonomic and compact. Obviously phone calling features are included, aside from the social networking ones.

I can see there’s a directional pad as well and the display’s bezels are remarkably thin for 2010. There’s no hint of what OS is running here, so let’s assume it’s a proprietary one. I’m guessing this would also make one hell of a portable console, right? Still I can’t figure if the keyboard is virtual or real.

Some Ideas About the Sony Xperia Z5 and Z4…

On Monday the Sony Xperia Z4 was officially announced in Japan and it’s going to remain in Japan, for a while. It doesn’t feel like an upgrade, but rather like a strange move from Sony. And now we get to see the first leaked photo of the Sony Xperia Z5, below.

Of course, it’s all blurry cam action and nothing clear is revealed, aside from maybe a flat back and glossy edges. Sources said the OmniBalance design would be gone with the Xperia Z5 model, but that doesn’t seem to be happening. The main camera is still in the corner and the lens is still smaller than what other flagships are offering, although Sony makes great camera sensors in the meantime.

It’s easy to see why Sony is reluctant to give up its glass case, especially since even Samsung adopted a similar approach, although a more iPhone 6-like one, if you look at the frame. However, Samsung’s way of integrating glass was better than Sony’s, in spite of the Japanese firm having so many years of experience of working with glass. I’m comparing right now in my mind the Xperia Z, Z1, Z2, Z3, Z4 and even the Z5 and I can’t find major differences between them. This is the Xperia Z4 by the way:

Even iPhones are more different throughout generations. This is a wake up call, Sony! And that’s made even sadder by the big number of fans this company has… Let’s try it with metal for once, maybe try some curved edges, an edge to edge screen from Sharp, launch a straight up modular phone, a new console phone, ANYTHING!

Shine Windows Phone 10 Concept Created by Jonas Kvale

Jonas Kvale is a back and he’s becoming a household name recently, with many new designs over the past weeks. This time he designed a great Windows Phone 10 concept called Shine. I’d see this as a Lumia unit, or maybe a surprise Sony…

Let’s stop speculating and let’s see what Jonas had to say about his design. So, he envisions this as a 5 inch smartphone with a bright metal construction and plastic and glass front side. There are tapered edges here and inside the phone there’s a quad core Intel Atom processor, new gen graphics and 2 GB of RAM. Obviously, the OS is Windows Phone 10 and we’ve got 64 GB of storage inside and a Quad HD screen.

There’s also a lower end version of the phone, with 1 GB of RAM and a Full HD screen, plus 32 GB of storage. The battery here is a 28000 mAh unit and we’ve got an USB Type C port on the specs list as well. Fast charging is offered on the Shine phone, so with 15 minutes fo charging you can get 8 hours of battery life. The selling point is probably the camera, the 30 megapixel back unit with HD zoom and dual LED flash, as well as laser assisted focus.

The design feels a lot like a Lumia at the back and like an Xperia at the front. What do you think?

Turing Phone Offers Ultra Secure Communications

Count this one under “concept phone, but not quite…”. The device you can see below is a Turing Robotic Industries phone, a smartphone that features end to end encryption and also comes with a solid shell.

This model comes with complex authentication, communication encryption and a special public key and a private key in the mix. The Turing phone can verify its identity using another handset of the same kind, or relying on a key distribution center. The handset is invulnerable to network threats and privacy violations, apparently. Once two Turing phones are connected, they can exchange information amongst themselves in a safe way.

Turing phones run Android 5.0 with a special Turing UI interface and their specs include a 5.5 inch Full HD screen, a 13 MP back camera and a front 8 MP shooter, as well as a 3000 mAh battery. One of the most interesting aspects of the phone is its case made of an unique material, that’s not resilient than titanium or steel. The handset will turn from prototype to reality in July, priced at $740.
