Android M Will Get Its Name At Google I/O 2015 Next Month

Android M will get its name at Google I/O 2015 next monthGOOGLE

It's that time of the year when Google starts the rundown to its next expected version of Android at the Google I/O developer conference. Aimed at showcasing products and upcoming software additions, Google I/O is the apple of every Android (and even Chrome OS) developer, where they get first-look at what Google plans to offer them in the coming months and also some freebies in store for the participants.

But we're not going to talk developer/coding language with you (let's leave that to the experts) and give you more on what the next Android could be. As things stand, Android has reached L in its alphabetic order, hence making it more than obvious that next Android version is going to start with the alphabet M and as always, it's going to be a dessert that everyone may (or may not) know about.

For those unaware, Lollipop is the name of the current version and with M coming to prominence, it's time for people put their punts on the name of next Android. So what can possibly Google have in mind for the version 6.0? Internet forums are full of name wish-lists and some of the popular ones are, Milky Bar (following on the lines of KitKat), Marshmallow and plenty more being floated around.

With version 5.0, Google decided to change the look of its mobile platform and something similar is being touted for the v6.0 as well. The yet-to-be named Android version could truly become the first operating system to support 64-bit architecture for devices that are getting powerful by the day.

While Android M will be at the forefront at Google I/O 2015, it's not the only major attraction at the conference. We can expect more on the latest iteration of Android Wear which is supposed to kick start the wearable revolution across the globe, more about the Android platform for televisions and some bits for the Chrome folks as well. Google I/O is slated for early next month and we'll be hearing more on the Android M naming rituals building up to the event. Stay tuned
