BlackBerry Announces The Porsche Design P9983 Graphite With A Price Tag Of Rs. 1,22,000
BlackBerry's partnership with Porsche has given us a Porsche Design smartphone with an ultra-high price tag. The latest device in the lineup is the P9983 Graphite, which has just been announced carrying a price tag of ($1,950) Rs. 1,22,000.
BlackBerry offers exclusive BBM PIN ID group - 2AAXXXXX for its Porsche Design smartphones, so there are some exclusive perks to owning an expensive BlackBerry smartphone such as this one.
The hardware changes on the Porsche Design P9983 are merely limited to the visuals as the internal hardware has been relatively untouched by the manufacturer.
The handset is equipped with a 3.1-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 320x320, an aging Snapdragon S4 chipset, an 8MP camera, a 2MP front camera, 64GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM.
BlackBerry has announced that the smartphone will be available through Porsche Design stores around the world, although the company hasn't offered Indian launch details as of yet. We can expect BlackBerry to gradually make the smartphone available across the world over the coming months.
The Porsche Design series targets the niche market, so the company will not be hoping to sell this unit in the millions. But even then, BlackBerry could have done itself a favor by offering slightly better internal hardware, thus justifying the heavy price tag to some extent. This is something Vertu does with its high end luxury grade handsets as well, so there's no reason why BlackBerry can't do the same.
