All of a sudden the interest among premium audio brands for India has spiked and while it's hard to define their business viability from value perspective, still they're excited enough to make their move.
After Bang & Olufsen making its true entry into India, Bowers and Wilkins is the next name looking to enter into the country with its premium range of audio products, such as earphones, headphones, portable speakers etc. Make no mistake, the company has been doing its business in India for over two decades and now they want to make themselves available at much friendlier consumer segment.
With products like the P5 and P3 headphone, Airplay dock system and many more options for the Bluetooth music generation, Bowers and Wilkins (B&W) are looking to establish themselves across major cities with help from Apple's Premium Resellers visible majorly over here.
"We have been present in the country in premium space till now but with our latest series of products; we'll be heavily focused on delivering B&W quality at affordable price point," as per Brian Devlin, Director, Global Marketing & Sales- Bowers & Wilkins, New Media Division who was speaking on the brand's behalf.

Unlike many brands, B&W will be heavily focused on selling products via distribution and other retail channels and there's no mention of online when Brian talks up the company's strategy. "We will cater to the consumer demand via retail and also make use of Apple's Reseller stores. Online is not out first preference." he added.
Some interesting insights shared by Brian highlights the plight of headphone market in India; wherein the numbers are still at an infancy stage. "The headphone market in India has huge opportunity with more and more brands selling the other form size audio product and this is where B&W sees itself making the difference."
Their products start from around Rs 9,100 and speakers go as high as Rs 30,000 which makes you question the company's stance on going affordable (may be for the affluent). B&W has big plans for India and this according Brian is just the tipping point. Either ways, B&W will compete with majors like Harman Kardon, Bose and Bang & Olufsen among others in this space.
