Google’s New Tablescape App Will Let You Capture And Share Photos Of Food

A new Google app called Tablescape has leaked out, which could be a new social networking site primarily meant for foodies. The app is available only for 'Google Trusted Testers' at the moment.

The screenshots of the app suggest that this will be very much like any other Google app that we've come across, with a very familiar layout and UI design. Users will be able to discover new food items using hashtags and categorize their food based on various preferences (vegetarian, chocolate, healthy, alcohol, homemade etc).

The app description mentions the following:

· Beautiful presentation of great food photos, and super-simple posting
· Visual hashtags known as food icons for fun and fast food descriptions
· Tips and insights from photography pros with Photo Stories, Pro Tips and Zagat Signatures
· Get your own post highlighted as 'Dish of the Day' by the Tablescape editors

There will also be a "Dish of the Day" feature, which will show users the best dish that appeared on Tablescape on that given day. We're yet to learn as to when this feature will be made available to the users, but since Google is already testing the app, we don't think it will take long.

Tablescape is a clever idea and will strike a chord with social media fans who usually resort to sharing food pictures on image sharing sites like Instagram. There will be Google+ integration from the app, which could help with hashtag discovery. This will also save the trouble of starting up your profile from scratch. So if you're an Android user, getting started with the app could be as easy as installing it and signing in with your Google account.
