HTC A55 Could Be The Company’s First Quad HD Smartphone

While all the talk has been about HTC's high end Hima or the One M9 flagship, it seems like the company is also preparing something for the Desire line-up. A new tweet from @Upleaks suggests that the Desire series of handsets could be redefined this year, with a new flagship level smartphone said to be in the making.

Known as the Desire A55, this handset will reportedly come with a large 5.5 inch Quad HD or 2K resolution display. Further, the device is believed to be utilizing MediaTek's octa core MT6795 chip clocked at 2.0GHz, which packs plenty of horsepower underneath.

In the camera department the Desire A55 will supposedly pack a 20MP unit, perhaps the same unit which is rumored to be donning the One M9. The front is believed to sport a 4MP "Ultrapixel" camera or a standard 13MP unit as the one on the Desire Eye.

The report also mentions the presence of the company's iconic BoomSound stereo speakers along with a 3,000 mAh battery pack and Android 5.0 Lollipop + Sense 7.0 running out of the box. Rounding off the hardware specs sheet is a 32GB storage module and 3GB of RAM underneath the device.

It's a little odd that HTC would want such hardware to be running on a Desire series handset, which is why we suggest you take the report with a pinch of salt. Upleaks mentions that the smartphone will be available by the end of this month, which is a little strange considering that the company has an event scheduled for early March.
The Desire A55 will be reportedly sold in Europe, Middle East and Asia according to the leak. HTC's announcement is expected to take place on the 1st of March in Barcelona on the eve of the Mobile World Congress. Given that there's still almost a month left for the announcement, we expect to fumble across a myriad of leaks regarding the new Desire A55 handset.
