Anyone Wants A Flip Phone? Try The LG Ice Cream
Once upon a time, Flip phones were a fad. Be it the plain looking Nokia flap series or Samsung C Series they've had their own fan following and who could forget the Moto RAZR. And now, LG is looking to reignite the 'flip' craze with its Ice Cream smartphone, running on Android. This phone is reminiscent to the Samsung's Golden, which was announced last year. Not everyone will be able to use these flippies, as LG plans to keep the Ice Cream confined to its home market only.
Ice Cream (IC) sports a 3.5 inch mediocre display and based on Android 4.4 KitKat version. It packs a 1.2GHz quad-core CPU with 1GB RAM, quite powerful options for a flip phone. Besides that IC can store data up to 8GB, expandable further up to 32GB via microSD. It comes fitted with an 8MP rear snapper and a VGA front shooter's been included on the miniature phone.
In addition to that, LG has somehow managed to offer 4G/LTE support on the IC and then there's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 among others. IC packs a 1,700mAh battery that should ideally coast through couple of days use. With its size and 138 grams, IC isn't the slimmest at 16.9mm but that shouldn't be much of an issue for phone these days.
LG has priced the Ice Cream phone at KRW 300,000 (or Rs 17,000 approx) in its home market and that's where the company might end up selling the phone. Any chances of a flip smartphone making it to India? You know where to check on that, so stay tuned.
