Moto E Press Render Revealed In A New Leak

Motorola is expected to unveil the second generation Moto E soon with the first gen variant marking new highs for the company. A new leak from Android Police has now given us our very first glimpse of the 2015 Moto E with what appears to be a very familiar design.

What's noticeable at first glance is the fact that the handset doesn't have a speaker grille on the bottom this time around with only the top earpiece visible. This could be a cost cutting measure from Motorola and something which might reflect in the final market price of the handset.

It is evident from this press image that the handset is running Android 5.0 Lollipop by default, which will make it one of the few budget devices to have that privilege. The back looks pretty identical to the first gen variant, so not a lot appears to be changed. There's a second microphone slot near the camera sensor though, which could be used for active noise cancellation.

The Messaging app icon shown in the image is relatively old and isn't present on Android 5.0 devices. It raises some suspicion about the authenticity of this leak, but it's likely that this is a human error from Motorola's design team.

Motorola is yet to confirm the arrival of the second gen Moto E officially, but this press rendering gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect from the company. It is possible that they will announce the device during the MWC in March which will also be host to a multitude of other smartphone announcements.
