Google Now On Android Gets Support For 40 Third Party Apps

Google announced an update to the Google Search app on Android over the weekend, bringing some much awaited features to Google Now. Starting with this update, customers can get information from a variety of applications (40 in total as of now). Users will be provided with cards for notifications pertaining to a specific app.

Available applications include TripAdvisor, eBay, Shazam etc. You can find the full list of supported apps from Google's dedicated page here. Users get to control every aspect of their notifications, so they will only receive notifications for the apps that they want to see on the Google Now page.

"Starting today, the Google app on Android can help you keep up with all the good stuff in 40 different apps at a glance," says Google's Aparna Chennapragada. "It'll bring you Now cards to help you out with your day-to-day life, giving you information that's helpful to you, right when you need it."

Google Now is the primary source of information for Android users and this new update makes the lives a lot easier for users. As illustrated by the screenshot above, apps can offer suggestions based on your previous activity, which is helpful for apps pertaining to music, travel etc.

Although this feature is supported by 40 new apps, Google could bring support for new applications in due time. The cards should also reflect on your web browser, considering you have it hooked to your primary Google account.
Google Now is also available on iOS, but it seems like this new feature will be limited to Android devices for the time being. The update is rolling out gradually, which means it might take some time before arriving on all devices globally.
