Leak Reveals Renders And Specifications Of Apple’s Large Sized IPad Plus

Apple has long been expected to announce a productivity oriented tablet with a larger display compared to the regular iPads. However, the plan hasn't come to fruition as of yet, although it is believed to be changing this year. New leak from Chinese sources have revealed a couple of renders of this 12.9-inch iPad Plus tablet, although we suggest you take it with a grain of salt as it's not confirmed yet.

The tablet is expected to be packing a 2K or Quad HD resolution display, which will mean that the developers will have to redesign their apps to support the new display resolution. Apple usually offers this information to the developers by June during the WWDC, so there should be plenty of time before the expected September-October launch.

Despite the size of the device, it is said that it will be 7mm thick and will weigh a little over 700 grams, which is still not bad for a 12.9-inch tablet. The battery is expected to be of 50% more capacity than the iPad Air 2 at 11,000mAh.

The report further suggests that Apple will ditch the iPad Mini 3 in favor of a new iPad Mini model. The company will reportedly keep the second generation iPad Mini in stores as a cheaper alternative to its series of mini tablets.

This seems believable given that the 2nd and 3rd generation iPad Mini don't have a lot of changes barring the Touch ID sensor. So ditching the current iteration for an upgraded version makes a lot of sense. There is talk of Apple wanting to launch a low cost 4 -inch iPhone as well, although industry sources have denied these rumors in the past before.
