New Rumors Yet Again Hint At Huawei Producing The Next Nexus Device
A few days ago, we discussed how Huawei and LG could be responsible for two new Nexus smartphones or tablets this year. A new report now seems to confirm this, but without the mention of LG. It seems like Huawei has already received the green signal from Google to manufacture the next Nexus handset, which could mean we will have a new Nexus OEM this year.
Huawei is the third largest mobile manufacturer in the world, so it's only fair that the company gets a shot at the Nexus line. Kevin Yang, director at a Chinese research firm iSuppli has reportedly confirmed this courtesy of inside sources within the company.
The manufacturer recently launched its first smartwatch based on Android Wear, which has won widespread acclaim from fans, although there has been some criticism about its weight.
It will be interesting to see if Google will launch yet another large sized smartphone like the Nexus 6 or go back to its tradition of launching budget friendly smartphones like the Nexus 5, Nexus 4 etc. Considering that Huawei is synonymous with low cost value-for-money handsets, it is likely that this Nexus device might not be as expensive as the Nexus 6.
All of this is mere speculation at this point as there's no confirmation from the company yet. However, given Google's track record as a company which takes risks, we're pretty sure there's some credence to this report.
Huawei has massive presence in the Asian markets as well, which is something worth considering for Google. For a smartphone to sell decently, its popularity in the Asian markets will be crucial.
