Samsung Galaxy A7 First Impressions

Samsung Galaxy A7 First Impressions

Earlier we had told you that, having launched 4 new smartphones, Samsung has revamped its smartphone portfolio. We checked out Galaxy A7 from the lot and here are our first impression of the device.

The Looks
Compared to Galaxy A3 and A5, Galaxy A7 is more Samsung like with its large S-series like body, rectangular rounded design and back panel with camera housing, speaker grille and flash. It is 6.3 mm thick, and its slimness gives it an edge in the design. Competing with Gionee Elife S5.5 and Oppo R5, A7 is not the slimmest we have seen so far, but yet it stands out with a bigger display.

A flat top and a flat back with a silver bevel slightly chamfered - A7 pulls in the adrenaline for the ones disliking iPhone design and wanting some metal at a decent price point. The metal unibody makes it easy to hold and look gorgeous at the same time.

The Power

With Galaxy A7, Samsung has joined the 64-bit bandwagon. The device draws power from the Snapdragon 615 and Adreno 405 GPU, and comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage.

We checked out the device's touch capabilities and found no lag at all. Browsing through menu options, trying out calling options and texting a message was quick and snappy. Since we could spend only few minutes with the device, we can't say much about its overall performance, but we expect it to be good. (Wait for our in-depth review of the Galaxy A7. It's coming soon!).

The Display

The 5.5-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 1080p resolution offers gorgeous colour reproduction. Protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass, the screen was a bit reflective, especially with the glaring lights around, but as you can see from the images the display did shine through quite admirably.

The Cameras

It seems to be the same 13MP rear shooter and the 5MP front lens in Galaxy A7 like A5. Samsung's selfie-focused fun tools like selfie panorama, beauty face etc. in this will make it more interactive.

Our Verdict
Overall, the Galaxy A7 offered a satisfactory experience. It has got the looks, is build of premium build quality and materials, and has got enough power under its belly. However, we hope Samsung has taken measures in the structure of the unibody to prevent a bendgate.
We'll be back soon with deeper review of Galaxy A7. Stay tuned!
