Xiaomi Is Bringing The Redmi 2 Smartphone To India This Week
Time for Xiaomi to up the ante in budget space yet again and what better way than introducing their remaining bunch of affordable products, Redmi 2 and MiPad in the country. The brand has been touting imminent product announcement for consumers in the country and as usual, they've encrypted the product via puzzles.
If we are to believe Xiaomi's word then Redmi 2 will be unveiled in India on March 12 which will be fighting out with Lenovo's A6000 4G smartphone and Motorola's recently announced Moto E (2015) with many more expected to line up in the coming months.
Redmi 2 sports the same 4.7-inch 1280x720p as on the Redmi 1S but will be seen running on MiUi 6 over Android KitKat version. Under the hood, it packs a quad-core Snapdragon 410CPU with 1GB RAM and offering 8GB internal storage support, expandable up to 32GB via microSD. Xiaomi has decided to retain the imaging prowess of Redmi 1S (no harm in that, however). It comes with 4G LTE connectivity support and seems to have become lighter compared to its original.
Xiaomi has been price friendly up until now and while they have ventured into different space with the Mi 4 and soon-to-be unveiled Mi Note series, expect the brand to return to its winning ways with the Redmi 2. Lenovo has come fairly close to bettering what Xiaomi managed to offer with Redmi 1S last year but this is 2015 and a year is long time in the mobile market these days.
