As for specifications, Motorola Moto E second generation is an upgrade version of the original Moto E. Here we compare the specs of the two variants to know the difference between the two.
Display:
The Moto E second-generation smartphone comes with a bigger 4.5-inch IPS LCD display, while the original Moto E has a 4.3-inch display. Though, the new generation model accommodates the same 960×540 pixels as the Moto E, and both the phones have Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
Chipset:
There is not much difference in this department because the 3G variant of the Moto E second generation also runs on the same processor that powers the previous generation Moto E. The phone runs on runs on Snapdragon 200 dual-core processor paired with Adreno 302 GPU. The LTE variant, however, should be a better performance than its predecessor, considering that it is powered by a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 quad-core 64-bit processor with Adreno 306 GPU.
RAM and in-built memory:
The RAM in the phone remains the same at 1GB, while the company has bumped up the inbuilt storage space from 4GB in Mote E to 8GB in the new Moto E. What counts as the major upgrade is that the new generation Moto E has a microSD card slot for expanding the memory by up to 32GB.
Camera:
In the camera department, the Moto E 2nd gen scores more than the previous model. It features a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, while the previous one lacked autofocus feature. The flash however remains missing this time as well as was missing from the original model. A key upgrade is that while there was not a front-facing camera on original Moto E, the new generation model has a VGA front-facing camera. Though the camera can be used for selfies but it is not really a major attraction.
Software:
In terms of software, the Moto E 2nd generation is launched with Android 5.0 Lollipop on-board, while the Moto E was launched with Android Kitkat. Though, the original Moto E can now be upgraded to Android Lollipop.
Price:
This is the most interesting part, the price of the 3G variant of the new Moto E is the same as that of the launch price of the original Moto E which was introduced for Rs 6,999 in India.
